Brushes, shapes and your colours
1.4.0 is out for macOS and Windows. Most of it is about painting — new brushes, shapes that draw themselves — and the app can now wear your colours.
New brushes
Two new brushes join the five you had: Pen, for clean lines that taper, and Sparkle, which scatters little four-point stars. Every brush now remembers its own softness and dab style. Strokes are laid like stickers on the surface, so a line keeps its width and shape when it crosses from one part onto the next, and a soft brush no longer leaves a crease where a stroke runs over itself.
There is a Steady slider for calmer lines: the brush follows your hand a little behind it, so the wobble smooths out.
Shapes that snap
Draw a stroke and hold still for a moment at the end — it snaps into a clean shape (a line, an arc, a circle or ellipse, a rectangle, a square, a triangle and more), laid round the part it is on. Edit Shape gives it handles, so you can drag its points before you move on. If you would rather draw freehand only, it can be switched off in Settings, and the hold time changed.
With Symmetry on, a thin line now shows the middle of the pet, so you can see where the mirror is.
Your colours
Settings has a new Interface colours section: pick a colour for the panels, how strongly it is used, an accent for buttons and highlights, and a background for the 3D view. Pictures, thumbnails and colour swatches keep their real colours. Leave it alone and the app looks exactly as before.
Warnings — a part that needs checking, a pack that needs attention — are one clear orange everywhere now, so they stand out whatever colours you pick.
Smaller things
- The Properties panel on the right is rebuilt: its tabs are icons in the header, and every page is laid out in clear sections.
- Paint mode’s part list remembers the colours you painted with after you save, showing the four you used most recently.
- Face parts step aside while you paint, so the brush reaches the body behind them.
- Face highlights and scleras no longer show a thin grey edge on Windows.
- The cat you see when the app opens paints at the same sharpness as any new body.
Updated terms
Our terms now allow commissions: you can make a pet for a client and deliver it for their own games. Parts you import yourself are entirely yours. Because the terms changed, the app will ask you to accept them once more.
