The material library

All 78 materials by category, with a picture and a line on what each one looks like.

Open the library with Browse on the Material page, then click a category on the left to see just that group. This page goes through every one of them. How to use a material (filling, brushing, recolouring) is in Materials.

How they work

A material is a ready-made pattern that is painted onto the part you fill or brush. Each one is made to lay a particular way, and the browser knows which: most wrap around the part, a few are built to lay differently. In the browser’s filter drawer, Lay lists the ways (Wraps around, World and 3D) with how many materials lay each way, and narrows the library to the one you pick. A way that no material holds isn’t offered. It works with search and in every category.

The card on the Material page says how a material takes your colour: fixed colours, tints with your colour or its glow takes your colour. Whichever it says, Hue, Saturation, Vibrance, Brightness and Contrast recolour it, and the Colours list changes its own colours one by one. Materials appear in the browser at once, download the first time you use one, and stay on your computer after that.
